Clinical Cases

Metastatic Bone Tumors

Clinical case

48 year old female patient

In 2014, she had breast cancer

In 2023, in a routine consultation (annual follow-up), there was an abrupt rise in the tumor marker CA 15.3>1000U/mL

In June 2023, a PET scan was performed which revealed multiple bone and lymph node metastasis

Diagnosis

Multiple bone and lymph node metastasis

Treatment

According to biomedicine, the treatment of bone metastasis, especially when there are multiple lesions scattered across the skeleton, does not aim for a cure since it is not possible to eliminate all cancer cells.

Multidisciplinary treatments aim to try to stop the growth of metastases, minimize the loss of bone tissue and alleviate pain.

After diagnosis, the patient began a treatment cycle of Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy.

As there was no cure for her condition, she went to my clinic looking for a complementary treatment to increase the probability of success of her treatment and consequently the survival rate.

After an assessment consultation, a treatment protocol was defined based on personalized Chinese herbal medicine formulas and acupuncture treatments, which she started immediately.

5 months after starting treatments, the PET scan was repeated.

Pancreatic Cancer Stage IV

Clinical case

40 year old female patient

Diagnosis

Pancreatic Cancer Stage IV (August 2021)

Computed Tomography (CT) 8.2021

Primary tumor in the tail of the pancreas measuring 60 mm

Metastasis: liver (6 lesions), kidney, uterus, ovaries, peritoneum, epiplon, splenic vein and artery, peripancreatic and mammary chain.

After being diagnosed, she was referred to several hospitals that refused to accept her as a patient because there was no treatment that could treat or increase life expectancy.

A lifetime of 6 months was estimated.

In September 2021, she went to my clinic looking for an alternative treatment where after carrying out the evaluation consultation, a treatment protocol was drawn up based on personalized Chinese herbal medicine formulas and acupuncture treatments, which began immediately.

About 2 years after starting the treatments, the imaging exam was repeated.

Computed Tomography (CT) 6.2023

Pancreas Tumor: Reduction in size from 60 mm to 24 mm.

Metastasis: liver-reduction in the number of lesions from 6 to 2 with a marked reduction in the volume of existing ones from 80mm to 27mm and from 56mm to 16mm.

Remaining metastasis eliminated.

About 2 months after starting Chinese medicine treatment, the CT scan was repeated and there was already a marked reduction in the size of the primary tumor and elimination of some metastasis. She was then accepted as a patient in a hospital, where she underwent 12 sessions of chemotherapy (CT) for 6 months, which she ended up suspending because she could not handle its toxicity and she was convinced that the tumor was decreasing in size only with the Chinese medicine treatments.

Two and a half years after starting the chinese medicine treatments, the patient is asymptomatic, continues to undergo acupuncture sessions and awaits a repeat CT scan scheduled for the end of February 2024.
